What are the Different Types of Boba Teas

When searching for Bubble Tea, the name represents all the different types of boba tea for most. But what are the different types of boba drinks?

Boba drinks can be made into Milk Tea, Bubble Tea, Smoothies, Milkshakes, and Slushies. These are the most common types, with some going as far as iced coffee bubble teas and juice bubble teas.

They are made by making the smoothie, milkshake, and slush the old fashioned way, and basically putting chewy boba on top of it.

What everyone is really after is the tapioca pearls, not the drink itself. The drink is the addition to their pearls, not the other way around.

Don't believe it? Well, boba pizza has been added to the list of foods and drinks to put tapioca on besides waffles and desserts. Boba is often added to cakes and icecream.

When Bubble Tea started gaining attention around the world, people quickly began their attempts to mash it into their favorite drinks and desserts.

With all of the bubble tea flavors, syrups to add, toppings to use, tea flavors to brew; the beverage has formed quite a list. Pearl milk tea still holds on as the main go to out of them all, but the variations outweigh the numbers.

Milk Tea

What type is a milk tea? The bubble milk tea is a type of bubble tea that has milk in it. There is a milk tea powder used to make Milk Tea, or it can be made by combining regular milk and tea. The beverage usually has a creamier texture than regular tea, and hides majority of the boba in the bottom of the beverage.

The boba pressed up against the see through cup are normally the only ones visible. People love taking pictures of how it looks, because it looks pretty appealing and appetizing.

Bubble Tea Milkshakes

Bubble Tea Milkshakes are simply regular milkshakes with cooked tapioca pearls added to them. The cooked tapioca is no longer hot after it is taken out of the pot, and the additions are rinsed off. Milkshakes are already great as is, but some think its even better with pearls.

If the milkshake is thick enough, the pearls will rest on the top of the drink, instead of drifting down to the bottom of the cup.

Bubble Tea Slushies

A Bubble Tea Slushie is a regular slush with boba in it. Since slushes consist of mostly ice, powder with water or syrups are used to make them. Of course the difference from the milkshake is their lack of milk; making the drink a little lighter. The pearls usually rest at the bottom of the drink.

Slushies can really be any flavor, but normally are made into fruit drinks. The mango, lychee, peach, and tropical blends are the most common ones.

Iced Coffee Bubble Tea

This is as easy as making your own Starbucks iced coffee. Just whip together a normal coffee with the sweeteners, throw some ice in it to make it 'iced', and put boba pearls in it. The pearls will rest at the bottom of the glass as the coffee is sipped.

Juice Bubble Teas

Juice bubble teas are the easiest. All it requires is your favorite juice (orange juice, grape juice) with some tapioca pearls. Since juices are fruity, popping pearls are used since they are substitute fruit candies in place of tapioca.

The popping pearls would make this drink very interesting as the fruit would burst upon consumption, giving juicy juice more juice.

Bubble Tea

Even though bubble tea is just the name to describe them all; we are talking about plain Jane boba pearls in regular brewed tea. Absent of the milk and powders, some people prefer nothing more than brewed tea and tapioca.

Maybe even Aloe Vera, Coffee, or Grass Jelly as a topping instead of the tapioca pearls. This by far the healthiest selection of them all.
