Coconut Milk Tea & Coconut Flavored Bobas
Coconut Milk Tea
Coconut flavored milk tea is one of those boba flavors that either the person likes, or they don't like. Referring of course to the coconut itself. Not because of allergies or anything, but because of the taste itself (allergies for this are very uncommon). I myself personal love coconut, because of its great aftertaste when mixed with other great flavors. It also tastes pretty good on its own. Coconut all by itself doesn't really get as much love as it should, but it makes a great additive.
There are many flavors that coconut bubble tea can go with as well:
- Strawberry
- Mango
- Taro
- Chocolate
- Almond
- Wintermelon
- Lemon
- Lime
- Vanilla
- Passion Fruit
- Lychee
- Jackfruit
- Durian
- Honeydew
Of all of these flavors, the most popular choices is the mango and taro. There are also boba topping jelly flavors that are mixed with coconut located here. Coconut milk tea pairs well with all of the above, and makes a great addition to these beverages. You can check out the boba flavors in this list of boba bubble teas. The coconut mix for making this at home or your boba shop, is located here:
To make a coconut bubble tea from the mix provided, add 3 to 4 tablespoons for every 16 ounces of fluid. This can be added to hot or cold water, milk (coconut milk, almond milk, or whole), or milk tea. It is best to do it with hot liquid, as the boba drink will mix better, then make it iced to cool it down. The milk tea mix, which includes black tea as well, is located in the milk tea guide. Of course, if other flavors will be added to it to make something like a strawberry coconut milk tea, then make adjustments as needed. You don't want to overdo it by adding in too much of each. Half of the amount above for a 16 ounce drink for the strawberry and coconut apiece should be enough. Changing the ratios to 1:3 can create a beverage with more of a strawberry taste over the coconut to give it that awesome aftertaste.
Making a pure tea from tea leaves with boba and some coconut flavor is great too. Steep tea leaves of your choice, and then add in some coconut powder mix. Some people enjoy tasting the natural flavors of the tea with a little extra, and most add sugar to their tea. Your choice on how much of the mix and sugar you would like. For the tea leaf flavors and guidance on steeping them, check the loose tea leaves section.
As mentioned previously, other boba flavors can be made without the coconut powder at all and still create somewhat of a coconut bubble tea. A chocolate boba tea can be made with the addition of one of the coconut flavored fruit boba jellies. It would be predominantly the fruit flavor, but it would have coconut in it, as most of the jellies do.
