Bubble tea smoothies differ from the original bubble tea; even though all boba drinks are typically called "Bubble Tea". A smoothie is normally a mixture of many different flavors, usually done in a blender. The flavors are typically fruits or veggies, or a mixture of both. Here we will discuss the fruit flavors commonly used to make smoothies, and how to make the bubble tea smoothie of your choice at home.

Here is a giant list of all the assorted flavors to use to create a mixed drink of your choosing, and give you some ideas while creating them. Purees are also available here, to make smoothies (any of these can be mixed into other flavors too).

How to Make Bubble Tea Smoothies with Purées

The Purées used to make the smoothies are strong in flavor and aroma (it smells great). It only takes a teaspoon (not tablespoon) of the puree for every 8 ounces of liquid. Smoothies can be made with water or milk. If you are using milk, it should be noted that the beverage will be a bit more creamier. Using water instead of milk, will make the taste more prominent.

What you will need:

  • A Blender
  • Purée
  • Milk or Water
  • Ice

With your blender, add 5 ounces of milk (preferably whole milk). If you don't want whole milk, then soy milk is a great substitute, especially for vegans. It contains almost the same amount of protein, but with less fat and calories. Coconut milk mixes well with fruit drinks, and is low on calories. Almond milk has one of the least amounts of protein, which is used to build muscle (protein is). Of course, if you don't want milk at all, then just use water, it is perfectly fine. The smoothie won't be as creamy, but it will work.

Add a teaspoon of the purée in to the blender, with 1/2 a cup of ice. Blend them together to make your smoothie.

Note: If you are using many different flavors, make sure that you divide the portions of puree correctly, so your drink doesn't come out too strong. If you are doing 2 flavors, then do half a teaspoon for each, as an example.

The Purées are made with real fruit, and some of the flavors actually have the smaller fragments of the seeds still in them. These really should be tried with the coconut milk!

Boba should be placed in the drink after it is finished blending. For a whole listing of the different boba types, check the 30 plus boba options besides tapioca pearls here. There is bursting boba, crystal boba, canned toppings, healthy boba jellies, tiny boba, chewy, quick cook, and the original pearls. The original pearls can be found here.
