How to Make Thai Iced Tea
Thai Iced Tea
Thai Iced Tea is a popular drink from Taiwan that is often referred to as the "Thai drink". It is made from Thai tea leaves, which can be purchased here. The tea drink is known for its sweet taste, as sugar is often added to it after it is steeped or brewed. It differs from the hot tea (because it is served with milk) and the Thai Milk Tea.
Making the iced tea at home requires a tea set for steeping the loose tea leaves, besides purchasing the tea leaves themselves. Check out the tea leaves section for more tea leaves and information on how to steep tea.
To make the tea 'iced', all one has to do is simply serve the drink chilled, which can be done simply by adding ice to the beverage. It is important to note the quantity of ice that is added, as too much ice can create a watered down tea reducing the sweetness and flavor.
Most of the time thai tea is served pretty sweet, so the ice helps as it melts in the beverage lowering the sweetness. Just make adjustments accordingly when adding the ice to ensure the flavor isn't lost.
