How to Make Matcha Latte
Matcha Latte
This will go over the easiest ways to make a Matcha Latte. Matcha is green tea leaves that have been grinded into fine powder. It contains more caffeine than the regular green tea, with all the same health benefits from the antioxidants. Switching over to drinking matcha can help to kick a coffee habit.
Making a regular Latte is very simple if the proper equipment is used. Dont worry, you won't need to buy a special machine to do this. This only requires basic kitchen supplies.
First off, a Latte is very similar to a cappuccino, except it has more milk than the cappuccino. Lattes are known for the foamy milk sitting on top of the drink in a thicker layer, than the thinner layer on cappuccino.
Lattes are served hot, which will actually make mixing the drink altogether with the matcha flavoring, a lot easier. You will need Matcha Powder to make this, which you can purchase here:
The Matcha flavoring comes in the original and the "Grade A Premium", which is a finer version of the first. It will make mixing easier.
What you will need:
A Teaspoon
Whole Milk (This milk will froth better)
Hot Water
A 16oz Jar (preferably)
A Microwave
- First, take 2 teaspoons of matcha powder and mix it with hot water in a separate bowl or cup (near the temperature of boiling for best results; to ensure it mixes well). The amount of water should be around 2 ounces give or take. Using a spoon to mix it is fine, but make sure there isn't any chunks of powder left over.
- Then, take 6 ounces of whole milk and place it into a jar. When the milk is placed into the jar, fill it up no more than half way. The jar shouldn't be bigger than a cup and a half in measurements if you want the milk to come out right. If the jar is too small, split the portions up. Put a lid on the jar, shake it for 20 seconds, then take the lid off and place it in the microwave for 60 seconds. Microwave again 3 more times for 10 seconds.
- Remove it, and pour and mix it in a cup that you want to drink it in with the matcha flavoring that was made earlier (leave 20 percent of the milk in the jar). Stir it until it is completely mixed.
- Take the left over foam from the milk and scoop it out with a spoon, and place it on the top of your drink.
- Sprinkle a pinch of matcha powder unto the top of the milk froth.
